About the Challenge
What is the Kosi Challenge?
The Kosi Challenge is Rare Cancers Australia’s (RCA) major fundraising event, held in March each year since 2013.
It sees people unite from across Australia, including patients and families, to climb to our country's highest point, the summit of Mount Kosciuszko to raise much needed funds and awareness for Australians affected by rare, less common and complex cancers.
No Australian should have to go through their cancer journey alone. That is why we walk the journey with those impacted.
How to get involved
There are two ways to participate in the Kosi Challenge:
In-person: By joining us on Friday 15 or Saturday 16 March 2024 to climb the iconic Mount Kosciuszko.
Virtually: By walking or running 25kms, take on double the distance of 50km, or by reaching a goal of your choice during March 2024.
All challengers will receive a RARE branded cap, either on the day (in-person challengers) or in the mail (virtual challengers).
All funds raised from the Kosi Challenge will go towards the important work our Patient Support Team carry out. From helping patients to access specialists and treatments, through to delivering support groups, connecting people with services and providing financial assistance particularly in times of crisis, our Patient Support team are at the heart of what we do.

Patient support
We provide personalised practical, emotional and financial assistance to the cancer patients and families of today.
We help patients access specialists, treatments and research opportunities. We also deliver support groups, connect people with services and assist with fundraising.
Advocacy
We drive meaningful change for the cancer patients and families of tomorrow.
On an individual level, we help cancer patients gain access to the treatments they need. On a systemic level, we advocate to increase survivorship rates and patient participation in decision-making by influencing policy and forging strong partnerships.
