I am climbing for rare

The Kosi Challenge is the single signature fundraiser for Rare Cancers Australia (RCA), with the sole purpose of raising awareness and much needed funds for people across Australia impacted by rare and less common cancers.

In March 2026, I'll be climbing with hundreds of others, in support of rare, in memory of and with those living with rare themself – together we are a community and Kosi unites us all!

All funds raised through the Kosi Challenge goes directly towards funding the individualised, 360 degree person centred support that RCA’s team of specialist cancer navigators provide for patients, carers and their families.

Thank you so much for your support – now can I get a ‘Kosi, Kosi, Kosi – Oi,Oi,Oi!’

Why I'm Climbing

Primary bone cancer is rare. It is estimated that 269 people were diagnosed with bone cancer in 2024. I was one of those people, when in September 2024, I was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in my right tibia. After undergoing a reconstruction (limb salvaging surgery) involving taking a bone from my left leg, I began my recovery.

Due to being a rare cancer, treatment options, research and support is limited. Rare Cancers Australia were the only group to have dedicated resources, navigators and support groups for sarcomas. They continue to be the only group advocating for those diagnosed with rare cancers. 

Going through cancer is so hard. Besides the prognosis itself, it can sometimes feel like you are the only one experiencing certain thoughts and feelings whilst recovering. It's ongoing. It's life changing. The support from Rare Cancers to get through this life changing thing has been second to none. I wouldn't be nearly where I am in my mental recovery without their support and resources. 

I'm climbing Kosi so they can continue to help others in rare situations with less options like me.
