I am climbing for Rare Cancer Australia and the wonderful work they do. They supported me through my journey with Leukaemia.

The Kosi Challenge is the single signature fundraiserfor Rare Cancers Australia (RCA), with the sole purpose of raising awareness and much needed funds for people across Australia impacted by rare and less common cancers.

In March 2026, I'll be climbing with hundreds of others, in support of rare, in memory of and with those living with rare themself – together we are a community and Kosi unites us all!

All funds raised through the Kosi Challenge goes directly towards funding the individualised, 360 degree person centred support that RCA’s team of specialist cancer navigators provide for patients, carers and their families.

Thank you so much for your support – now can I get a ‘Kosi, Kosi, Kosi – Oi,Oi,Oi!’

P.S RCA is a Federal Government-classified Health Promotion Charity. All donations are fully tax deductible.

My Updates

I feel like a cat with nine lives.

In July 2023, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia — Philadelphia Positive — a particularly aggressive form of leukaemia known for its tendency to return.
It came as a complete shock to me and my family. We were told it was simply bad luck.

What followed were months of intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
In November 2023, I underwent a full bone marrow transplant, which, over time, brought me into remission.

Sadly, that reprieve did not last. Tiny traces of cancer appeared in my blood in April and May 2025. By August, the disease had returned with brutal force — more than 90% of my bone marrow was cancerous, and my blood was saturated.

Time was desperately short.
Thanks to the extraordinary vigilance and skill of my medical team, the relapse was caught just in time. They moved with incredible urgency — collecting my T-cells, administering further chemotherapy, and sustaining me until those cells could be returned through CAR-T therapy.

That therapy saved my life.
CAR-T has, so far, been successful, forcing the cancer back into remission once again.

It has been a hell of a journey. Over the past two years, there were six separate moments when I genuinely believed I was going to die. I joke that I must be a reincarnated cat — but the truth is, survival changes you. I have met remarkable people along the way, and my life is richer for knowing them.

There were many incredible organisations that supported us during this journey, which humble us.  Rare Cancers Australia is one of these treasures that have made a significant impact on our lives. Their care, advocacy, and practical support helped make my life-saving CAR-T therapy possible. They enabled my wife and me to be where we needed to be at the most critical point of my treatment, assisting with costs and support that we simply could not have managed on our own.

The empathy and kindness they showed us will never be forgotten.

Now, with cancer in remission and my strength returning, it’s my turn to give back — to help Rare Cancers Australia continue supporting others who are facing the fight of their lives.
