I am climbing for Rare.
In 2020, in the chaos that was covid, I was diagnosed with sarcoma - a cancer that occurs in less than 1% of adult cancers. Unfortunately, this spread further in 2021 and just in May of this year, I have battled, and beaten, a third round of the cancer. I have been through a total of 46 rounds of radiation treatment, four surgeries and have been able to access a medical trial that has meant I am living life far closer to normal than I thought possible.
Sadly, I have learned in my relatively fortunate journey that this is not the always the easy experience that every rare cancer patient has; there are sometimes months or even years of searching for information, answers or treatment options; costs, both financially and time away from home, for regional and remote patients; and, for some, an inequity of access to treatments which simply beggars belief. Although mine has not been an easy journey by any means, I consider it, by comparison, an incredibly fortunate one and I am very committed to doing what I can to improve this for others by fundraising for Rare Cancers Australia (RCA) who work to improve the lives and outcomes of those living with rare and less common cancers.
The Kosi Challenge is the single signature fundraiser for Rare
Cancers Australia (RCA), with the sole purpose of raising awareness and much
needed funds for people across Australia impacted by rare and less common
cancers.
In March 2026, I'll be climbing with hundreds of others, in support of rare, in
memory of and with those living with rare themself – together we are a
community and Kosi unites us all!
All funds raised through the Kosi Challenge goes directly towards funding the
individualised, 360 degree person centred support that RCA’s team of specialist
cancer navigators provide for patients, carers and their families.
Thank you so much for your support!
P.S RCA is a Federal Government-classified Health Promotion Charity. All
donations are fully tax deductible.
