I am climbing for Matthew Lees and RCA

A week before Christmas last year, a close friend of 25 years, Matthew Lees, passed away peacefully after living with glioblastoma, an incurable and aggressive brain tumour.

His journey was one he faced with absolute bravery and commitment, confronting the mental and physical adaptations, not backing down from trying to make a difference for himself and future individuals facing glioblastoma.

Matt’s days were never alone.
His pillars came in the form of his wife, Liz and his three children, Cooper, Sienna and Georgia.
Their strength in presence and unwavering support will be etched in his legacy forever.

Matt valued family and friendship, no matter the individual or circumstance, he understood personas and cues, and at any level he was ready to be there to listen, no matter if it was to celebrate someone’s story or ease their burden.
He was the light in the room always and his memory will shine on now more than ever.

In a tribute to Matt, Liz Lees and I, along with a group of Matt’s friends and family, will be taking on the Kosi Challenge to raise funds for Rare Cancers Australia (RCA), hoping to make a difference for other families facing the same unimaginable journey.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps support vital research, care and advocacy, and is a way for us to honour and remember Matt.
