On 14 March, I’m taking part in the Kosi Challenge 2026, climbing Mount Kosciuszko to raise funds and awareness in support of my friend Yvonne and others living with a rare cancer. 


By supporting our challenge, you’re helping to fund vital research and improve outcomes for people like Yvonne.


The Kosi Challenge is the signature fundraiser for Rare Cancers Australia (RCA), and all funds raised go directly toward their individualised, 360-degree, person-centred support provided by specialist cancer navigators for patients, carers, and families. RCA is a Federal Government-classified Health Promotion Charity, and all donations are fully tax deductible.

Today's Mount Lofty hike was more than training. It was hot, humid, and hard work - and a reminder that every walk builds strength, resilience, and belief. This journey is for Yvonne, and for the power of showing up, one step at a time.

Excitement is building!

There was something extra special in the air at parkrun on Saturday. Maybe it was the sunshine, perhaps it was the familiar buzz of our running community... but we know the real reason: it was the first time our Kosi Challenge team came together proudly wearing our team t-shirts!

Seeing the sea of colour and energy out on course at Seacliff felt like a milestone in itself. What began as a big idea is now something real and shared, something we’re building together step by step.

The Kosi Challenge is about more than climbing a mountain: it’s about lifting each other up, finding strength in community, and turning our collective effort into something meaningful. Saturday's parkrun reminded us exactly why we’re doing this.

What's my why?

I'm taking part in the 2026 Rare Cancers Australia (RCA) Kosi Challenge to stand beside my friend Yvonne, who is living with a rare cancer. 

With one in five cancer diagnoses classified as rare or less common, RCA provides critical support, advocacy, and research funding for people who are often overlooked. For many people diagnosed with a rare cancer, the journey can feel isolating, with fewer treatment options, limited information, and little public awareness.

Yvonne is climbing Mount Kosciuszko too, turning her own personal challenge into purpose and care for others, reminding us that courage isn't about avoiding obstacles; it's choosing to make a difference despite them.

Taking part in the Kosi Challenge is my way of honouring Yvonne's strength and helping raise awareness and funds for the rare cancer community. Every step is for better care, advocacy and research that can change outcomes.
